AutoReply AI uses Android's Notification Access permission. You grant it yourself in Android settings, and you can remove it at any time. The app looks only at notifications from the apps you select in the app (WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business and Telegram). From those notifications it reads the sender's name and the message text, so it can detect a new message and send a reply through the notification's own reply button.
The app does not read notifications from any other app. It cannot open or read your chat history inside WhatsApp or Telegram, and it does not read your phone's contacts list. If you use the optional contact picker (for example to add someone to a list), Android gives the app only the one contact you pick.
Everything below is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage (a local database). It is not sent to Group of Dada.
| Data | Why it is kept |
|---|---|
| Recent message text and sender name | Gives the app context for the next reply. Deleted automatically after the retention period you set (30 days by default). |
| Reply history | Lets you see what the app sent and when. |
| Your knowledge (questions and answers, notes, and text extracted from documents you import) | The facts the app uses to answer your customers. |
| "Never auto reply" and "Only reply to" lists | Control who gets automatic replies. |
| Settings | Your choices in the app. |
The app's data is excluded from Android's cloud backup, so it is not copied to your Google Drive backup.
When you import a PDF, Word or text file into your knowledge, the app extracts its text on your device and saves only that text. The original file is not uploaded anywhere.
If you have added your own Google Gemini API key, the extracted text of the document is sent once to Google's Gemini API at import time so it can be organised into questions and answers, facts and sections. The result is saved on your device, and later replies are answered from it without sending the document again. Without a key, the document is organised on your device only.
AI replies are off until you turn them on and add your own Google Gemini API key. When they are on, for each message that needs an AI reply the app sends the customer's message text and the matching business facts from your knowledge to Google's Gemini API, and Google returns a suggested reply. Nothing else from your phone is sent.
Google processes this data under its own terms and policies: Gemini API Additional Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy. Please read them, especially how Google may use data sent through free-tier API keys.
Your API key is stored encrypted on your device using the Android Keystore. It is never sent to Group of Dada.
You can sign in with Google (through Firebase Authentication) only if you want to back up your settings. The backup is saved in Firebase Cloud Firestore under your own account, and only you can read it. Your name, email address and account ID are handled by Google for sign-in. Message text, reply history and your knowledge are not uploaded. If you do not sign in, nothing is backed up.
Google's policies apply to these services: Firebase privacy and security and Google Privacy Policy.
